Page 47 - Drawing 1973-1980
P. 47

A diagonal fold, run from corner to corner, is set into a white square canvas.
The outline of a second square is subsequently cut out of the canvas around the fold
line. This square is, using horizontal strokes, filled in with black oil pastel while the fold is
       kept in closed position.
The underlying diagonal, obscured from sight and created by the fold, runs from corner
to corner and is, due to the drawing process, visible as a black impression.
The overlying diagonal begins in a corner and is, due to the drawing process, visible as
       a white line.
The orientation of the filled in square with dosed fold is determined by making the
       overlying line a vertical line.
Because the vertical line begins in the corner the square becomes tilted.
