Two straight lines of which one is always crooked

A stroller, who walks in a hilly landscape sees curves in the hills and in

the dales. Seen from an airplane these curves change into straight lines.

In Two straight lines of which one is always crooked both points of view –

from the side and from above – are brought together.

On a piece of black canvas one straight line is drawn with white oil pastel

while the canvas lies flat and a second one while the canvas hangs in a

            sagging condition.

            The following variations are conceivable:

two crooked lines of which one is always straight

two straight lines of which two are always crooked

one straight and one crooked line of which two are always straight

one straight and one crooked line of which two are always crooked
